Giannis I. Pappas

Giannis Il. Pappas was born in Arta (Chalkiades) in 1962. He graduated from the 1st Lyceum of Toumba in Thessaloniki and holds a degree in Philology from the University of Ioannina. He studied Italian language and literature for two years at the Universities of Perugia and Bari in Italy. Since 1990, he has been working as a philology teacher in secondary education. He was the co-director of the literary magazine "Elitrochos" in Patras (1993-1999). From 2002 to 2015, he served as the president of the Philologists' Association of Patras. Since 2003, he has been the publisher and director of the online literary magazine "Diapolitismos" (www.diapolitismos.net). He completed his doctoral dissertation on the author Andreas Frangias at the University of Ioannina (Department of Philology). He has organized numerous conferences and events in Patras, Athens, and elsewhere. His translations and poems have been published in literary magazines, both in print and online (Exopolis, I Lexi, Odos Panos, Poiisi, To Dentro, www.poiein.gr, www.diapolitismos.net). His critical essays on modern Greek authors have been published in literary magazines and newspapers. He translated "Poems" by Cesare Pavese, published by Printa in 2004. Together with poet Sotiris Pastakas, he translated 12 contemporary Italian poets [published in "Planodion," issue December 2007]. His first poetry collection, "At the Edge of the Dream," was published by Metaichmio in April 2008. In 2011, his second poetry collection, "The Invaluable Nothing," was released. In 2018, his first short story collection, "Dim Lives," was published by Kastaniotis. He is a member of the Society of Authors and the Circle of Poets.
