Cornelia Funke

Cornelia Funke was born in 1958 in Westphalia, Germany. She is the most popular author for children and young adults in Germany and has been awarded and recognized for her books countless times. She has worked as a social worker, board game designer, and children's book illustrator. Disappointed by the way various children's fairy tales were written and driven by her passion to create wonderful fairy-tale creatures, Cornelia began writing and illustrating her own stories for children. Her most well-known books include "The Thief Lord," "Inkheart," and "Inkspell." Today, she lives in Los Angeles with her husband, their two children, and various pets: two horses, a crazy dog named Luna, and a shy guinea pig.
