James Davidson

James Davidson is a professor of ancient history at the University of Warwick, specializing in the social history and erotic customs of ancient Greece. He studied at Columbia University and the University of Oxford. He has served on the Council of the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies (2001-2004) and on the editorial board of the Classical Association (2000-2010). His works include: "Consuming Passions: Appetite, Addiction and Spending in Classical Athens" (1994), "Courtesans and Fishcakes: The Consuming Passions of Classical Athens" (1997 - Greek edition: "Αρχαίοι Αθηναίοι. Ηδονές, καταχρήσεις και πάθη," Periplous 2003), "One Mykonos: Being Ancients, Being Islands, Being Giants, Being Gay" (2000), and "The Greeks and Greek Love: A Radical Reappraisal of Homosexuality in Ancient Greece" (2008)
