J. B. Hofmann

J. B. Hofmann (Johannes Baptista Hofmann) was a professor of Latin at the University of Munich, a member of the Bavarian Academy, and the director of the "Thesaurus Linguae Latinae." He is considered one of the greatest authorities on the Latin language in the 20th century. The "Etymological Dictionary of (Ancient) Greek" (Etymologisches Worterbuch des Griechischen) was published in Munich in 1950.
