Robert Silverberg
Robert Silverberg was born in 1935 in New York and is considered one of the "greats" of science fiction. He entered the world of science fiction at the age of 14 when he independently started a fanzine titled "The Spaceship." His first professional publication was in 1954 in Nebula Science Fiction magazine with the short story "Gorgon Planet," and since then, he has been regarded as a science fiction prodigy.
He utilized traditional symbols in science fiction such as time travel, aliens, and advanced science. However, beneath his myths, one can discern the human inability to communicate with oneself, with fellow humans, and with God. Existential despair continues to haunt him throughout almost all of his work.
He has been honored with the Hugo and Nebula awards.
