Giannis Mpolis

Giannis Bolis was born in Elassona. He studied History, Archaeology, and Art History at the Faculty of Philosophy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he also completed his postgraduate studies and doctoral dissertation on "Art Exhibitions: Artists and Their Audience in 19th Century Athens" (Thessaloniki, 2000). Since 1993, he has been a contributor and specialist scientific collaborator for the "Dictionary of Greek Artists: Painters - Sculptors - Engravers, 16th-20th Century" (Melissa Publishing, Athens 1997-2000). His studies and writings on modern Greek art have been published in books and exhibition catalogs, while his articles have appeared in art magazines and the daily press. Since 2000, he has been working as a curator at the State Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki.
