Stratis Mpalaskas

Stratis Balaskas, of Mytilenean and Asia Minor descent, is a journalist for the newspaper "Eleftherotypia" and the Athens News Agency, and the editor-in-chief of the daily Mytilenean newspaper "Empros." He insists on living in Mytilene, traveling across the Aegean, getting to know places and people, and dreaming of the future. He grew up in Mytilene, where he completed his secondary education, and later studied in Athens. He combats the ephemeral nature of journalistic expression with poetry ("Yiousouri," Pelinnaio Publications, 2002) and historical research ("Koryfan Polis," Ministry of the Aegean - Kastaniotis Editions, 2002). Some time ago, he decided to compile in a book the answers he tries to give to the questions of his daughter and son, Mario and Panagi, resulting in the publication of the children's book "A Marble for Imbros." With extensive social activity and numerous references to him in Greek and international literature, he has participated in dozens of professional and scientific conferences with his presentations. He has been honored twice with the Abdi Ipekci Award for his contribution to Greek-Turkish rapprochement.
