Dionysis Vitsos

Dionysios Vitsos is a publisher, born in 1956 in Zakynthos. He studied Economics and then Law at the Law School of the University of Athens. From 1974 to 1993, he worked at the National Bank of Greece, from which he resigned to focus exclusively on publishing. In 1984, he founded the publishing house "Periplous," which initially published a nationwide magazine of the same name dedicated to Literature and the Arts. Concurrently, he served as the General Manager of a major Athenian publishing company and Director of the Ionian Publishing Series at an Athenian publishing house. He was also a Theater Critic for an Athenian newspaper, a Producer of cultural radio programs on both state and private radio, an Organizer of art exhibitions and conferences, and has published numerous articles in Zakynthian and Athenian newspapers and magazines. He was the General Secretary of the Association of Zakynthians in Athens (1983-1993), a founding member of the Society of Zakynthian Studies and a board member for a decade, and a founding member of the Society of Zakynthian Cultural Research. He founded and organized the Free University of the Municipality of Zakynthians (1988-1990). He also participated in international scientific conferences and taught the art of publishing in European Union seminars. He is a member of the Museum of Solomos and Eminent Zakynthians. Since 1993, "Periplous Editions" expanded into nationwide book publishing. In 1999, he founded the book publishing company "P Publishing S.A.E.E.E.," which became part of the Imako business group of Petros Kostopoulos and had the right to use the name "Periplous Editions." Since 2005, "Periplous Editions" was released from Imako and returned entirely to Dionysios Vitsos. To date, he has published over 850 book titles and 53 issues of the magazine "Periplous."
