
Chantal Mouffe
Chantal Mouffe, of Belgian origin, was born in 1943. She studied philosophy and political science at the Catholic University of Louvain, in Paris, and at Essex. She is a Professor of Political Theory at the Centre for the Study of Democracy at the University of Westminster (London).
Among her major publications, in addition to "The Democratic Paradox," are the books: "Hegemony and Socialist Strategy: Towards a Radical Democratic Politics" (1985), co-authored with Ernesto Laclau, and "The Return of the Political" (1993). She has also edited collective volumes such as: "Gramsci and Marxist Theory" (1979), "Dimensions of Radical Democracy: Pluralism, Citizenship and Community" (1992), "Deconstruction and Pragmatism" (1996), and "The Challenge of Carl Schmitt" (1999).
