David Brewer

David Brewer, Emeritus Professor of Classical Studies at Oxford, studied classical philology and history at Oxford and was involved in teaching and journalism before dedicating himself to the study of Greek history. He learned Greek and became fascinated by the Revolution of 1821. For many years, he visited the fields and forts where the legendary battles took place. "The Flame of Freedom" was his first book, the result of many years of research and study of primarily Greek and English sources. He lives in London.
