Giorgos Logothetis

George Logothetis was born in 1944 in Agios Petros, Lefkada. In 1964, he moved to Sweden to study at Stockholm University, where he pursued Political Science, Sociology, and Journalism. He worked for 15 years at the Swedish State Television as a journalist, presenter, and producer of television programs. In 1988, following a proposal from the management of ERT, he returned to Greece to assist in the creation of the Third State Television Channel (ERT3) as the television director. From 1992 to 2004, he taught "Television Production" and "Communication Networks" at the Department of Journalism and Mass Media at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was a member of the Swedish Journalists' Union and is a member of the Journalists' Union of Macedonia and Thrace Daily Newspapers and the Foreign Press Correspondents' Association. In 1990, he was awarded the IPEKTSI prize for Best Television Report. He has been involved in public affairs since his student years. During the dictatorship, he was a member of the seven-member delegation of the Patriotic Front in Sweden. In the 2006 elections, he was elected Mayor of Apollonioi, Lefkada. He is the biographer of Mikis Theodorakis and maintains a personal website at www.theodorakisstory.gr. His book "Mikis Theodorakis: My Religion is Greece" is available in English and Chinese. He has produced 10 one-hour documentaries on the life and work of Mikis Theodorakis. He considers his greatest work to be the production of three one-hour documentaries on the period of the Resistance and the Civil War, based on "The Song of the Dead Brother," which are available on DVD in Greek and five other languages.
