Thanasis Dritsas (MD, FESC) is a cardiologist and has been serving as a Senior Consultant at the Cardiology Clinic of the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center since 1994. He studied medicine at the University of Athens and specialized in cardiology at Guy's and Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London. Alongside his medical training, he studied advanced music theory and composition with K. Kydoniatis and G. Ioannidis and attended composition seminars at the Royal Academy of Music in London. His musical works have been performed by leading musicians from the Orchestra of Colors and the Music Ensembles of ERT in numerous concerts and recordings. He was the producer of the ERT's Third Program radio show "Magic Flute" (1999-2001), the first radio show in Greece to systematically comment on the therapeutic properties of music. He is internationally recognized for his clinical and research activities in the field of music applications in medicine (music medicine & music therapy) and is a member of the American Association of Music Therapy, British Society of Music Therapy, and International Society of Music in Medicine. His works have been presented and recorded: "Images-String Images" (Musica Viva), "Two Musical Tales for Narrator and Chamber Orchestra," "Syn-Images" for violin and piano, "Museikasia" for violin, piano, and flute, "Watercolor" for flute and harp, "Greek Cycle" for piano, "Therapeutic Sounds from Around the World" (available on CD offered by the newspaper Eleftherotypia).
