Vemund Aarbakke

O Vemund Aarbakke is a historian who completed his doctoral dissertation on the Muslim minority of Thrace at the University of Bergen (Norway). His academic background includes studies in philosophy, history of religions, general linguistics, ancient Greek, and Balkan studies. Due to his research interests, he has lived for extended periods in Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. He has worked at the Christian Michelsen Institute (Bergen), the University of Bergen, the International Peace Research Institute (Oslo), and the University of Oslo. He is a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and focuses on national issues in Southeast Europe.
