Anthony McCarten

The New Zealand author and director Anthony McCarten was born in New Plymouth in 1961. He has written 12 plays, including the worldwide hit "Ladies' Night," which won the French Molière Award in 2001. Several of McCarten's plays have been adapted by him for the cinema, including "Via Satellite," which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 1991. His first novel, "Spinners" (1998), received critical acclaim worldwide and was translated into many languages. This was followed by "The English Harem" (2005), whose television adaptation was highly successful and resonated with audiences. "Death of a Superhero" is Anthony McCarten's third novel. It is already available in many countries around the world, and in early 2010, production began for its adaptation to the big screen, with McCarten writing the screenplay and directing the film.
