Giannis N. Mpaskozos

Giannis N. Baskozos was born in 1952 in Athens. He studied mathematics at the University of Athens and engaged in cultural theory. He completed his doctoral dissertation in the Department of Humanities at the University of Athens under Professor M.G. Meraklis. For many years, he was a collaborator with the economic newspaper "Express" and the Lambrakis Press Organization, initially with the magazine "Economic Courier" and later with the print and electronic editions of the newspaper "To Vima," where he was responsible for the "Vima Ideon" supplement and a contributor to "Vima Books." Additionally, he succeeded Iraklis Papalexis as the director of the magazine "Diavazo" from 2006 until its circulation ceased in June 2012, and he served as editor-in-chief of the English-language magazine "Hellenic Quarterly." In 2013, he founded and has since directed the online magazine for books "O Anagnostis" [www.oanagnostis.gr]. His collaborations and articles have been published in magazines such as "Diavazo," "O Anagnostis," "Ithaca," "Anti," "Politis," "Ichneftis," "I Alos," "Scientific Thought," "Pandora," "Graphe" (Larissa), "Roptron" (Volos), and others. He has published the short story collections "MEZ" (Kastaniotis, 2005) and "Who Still Listens to Jazz?" (Kedros, 2011), the cultural study "The Superfluous and the Essential: Cultural Trends in the Post-Junta Period" (Delfini, 1996), and has edited the collective volumes "The Political Economy of Globalization," in collaboration with Professor Kostas Lapavitsas (Papazisis, 2004), and "About Animals: With Logic and Emotion," in collaboration with Professor Anna Lydaki (Psychogios, 2011).
