Nadia Comaneci

Nadia Comăneci, born in 1961 in Onești, Romania, made history in the world of sports when she achieved the first perfect "10.00" ever awarded in gymnastics at the 1976 Olympic Games. By the end of that Olympics, she had repeated this feat six more times. Since her defection to the United States in 1989, she has distinguished herself as an international ambassador for both her sport and numerous charitable organizations. She resides in Norman, Oklahoma. Together with her husband, American gymnast Bart Conner—who is himself a two-time Olympic champion—they run a successful gymnastics academy.
