Michel Roux

Michel Roux is a distinguished chef, renowned as one of the top in his field. Together with his brother, Albert, Michel opened his first restaurant, the famous Le Gavroche, in London in 1967. This was followed by several other restaurants, including the Waterside Inn in Bray, where Michel serves as the chef. Today, it is one of only two British restaurants to have been awarded three Michelin stars, a distinction it received in 1985 and maintained for 17 years—longer than any other restaurant in the country. Michel holds numerous other culinary accolades, such as the Meilleur Ouvrier de France en Patisserie in 1976, the Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite in 1987, the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1990, and more recently, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Hotel and Restaurant magazine. He was also honored with an OBE in 2002 and the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 2004. Michel frequently appears on television shows and has authored several books that have achieved great success worldwide, such as "Eggs" (2005) and "Pastry" (2008). The latter received the Andre Simon Special Award (2008). The first edition of "Sauces" (1996) won the Glenfiddich Visual Award and sold over 300,000 copies.
