Andrew Sean Greer

Andrew Sean Greer is an American novelist and short story writer. He was born in 1970 in Washington, where he studied writing at Brown University. After spending some years in New York working as a chauffeur and a film and television technician, he moved to San Francisco and began publishing his work in magazines such as "Esquire," "Paris Review," and "Story." He has been awarded the Northern California Book Award, the California Book Award, the New York Public Library Young Lions Award, the O. Henry Award, and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He has taught at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and served as the Executive Director of the Santa Maddalena Foundation in Tuscany.
