Giannoula Giannoulopoulou

Giannoula Giannoulopoulou was born in Athens in 1966. She holds a degree from the Department of Philology at the University of Athens (1988) and a PhD in Linguistics from the Department of Italian Language and Literature at the University of Thessaloniki (1999). She has taught Linguistics courses at the Universities of Patras and Thessaloniki, and since 2008, she has been teaching at the Department of Italian Language and Literature at the University of Athens, where she is an associate professor. Her research focuses on the comparative study of the Greek and Italian languages. Part of this research has been conducted at the Italian Universities of Salerno, Pavia, and Lecce. Her research interests also include the historical study of linguistic issues and linguistic theories. Her work is situated within functional linguistic approaches, specifically within the "theory of grammaticalization" and "emergent grammar."
