Miltiadis Nektarios

Miltiadis Nektarios is an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science at the University of Piraeus. He graduated from the Athens University of Economics and Business (formerly ASOEE) and holds a Ph.D. from Temple University (Philadelphia, USA), specializing in private and social insurance and public finance. He has worked as the CEO of the Northern Greece Securities (1991-93), CEO of National Insurance (1993-99), and Governor of the Social Insurance Institute (IKA) (1999-2004). He served as the President of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (1993-96) and President of the Mutual Fund Management Company of Insurance Organizations (2000-2004). He has authored several books. His research interests include applications of risk management theory, convergence of insurance and financial markets, social insurance for pensions, and health service systems.
