
Dimitris Arvanitakis
Dimitris Arvanitakis was born in Zakynthos. He studied at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens, in the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies. With a scholarship from the Academy of Athens, he worked at the Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice (1995-1998), where he completed his doctoral dissertation. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the Ionian University. Since 2000, he has been working at the Benaki Museum as a scientific collaborator and head of the Publications Department. His research interests focus on modern history, with main thematic areas including the history of the Ionian Islands, the relationship between the Italian and Greek worlds, the development of scholarship, and the history of historiography.
He has participated in scientific conferences in Greece and abroad, and his studies have been included in journals, collective volumes, conference proceedings, and more. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal "Ta Historika," a member of the Scientific Committee, and coordinator of the publication of the Works of Andreas Kalvos.
