Iris Samartzi
Iris Samartzi was born and lives in Athens. She graduated from Vakalo School with a scholarship in Interior Design. She holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Graphic Design and Interior Design and has attended seminars on drama in education and theatrical pedagogy. She collaborated with Vakalo School as a teaching assistant (Scenography, Product Design, Interior Architecture, 2001/6). Since 2003, she has been teaching painting and crafts at a private educational institution (kindergarten, elementary school). She has participated in group exhibitions in Greece. Since 2004, she has been working with publishing houses as a children's book illustrator. She was awarded as an illustrator in 2006 ("From the Good and the Bad") and in 2008 ("The Awakening of the Cuckoos") by the Circle of the Greek Children's Book and also by the EBGE for the cover of the book "The Tree That Had Wings" (2011). She won the State Award in 2012 for the book "The Good and the Bad Pirates" by Antonis Papatheodoulou. She received the Circle of Children's Book Award for an illustrator and author of a book with colorful illustrations for the book "The Naughty Kid" (2014).
