Haris Karabarmbounis, after completing his studies in law and political science at the University of Athens, entered the diplomatic corps. He served as Consul in New York, a member of the Greek delegation at UN General Assemblies, Consul General in Alexandria, head of the Cyprus desk at the Central Service, Deputy Permanent Representative to the European Union, and Ambassador to Nigeria and West Africa. Subsequently, he was seconded to the Hellenic Parliament, where he organized the first Diplomatic Office (1995) and the corresponding Office of the Parliament at the European Parliament (2005), in the capacity of Permanent Representative. Today, he is a member of the Scientific Council of the Parliament, responsible for international relations. In addition to his diplomatic career, he collaborated with the "Information Office of the Common Market" in Athens and has been elected as a board member of the "Hellenic Society of International Law and International Relations" and Special Secretary of the "European Foundation for the Promotion of Humanitarian Education." His writing includes the works "Cyprus: From Invasion to Accession 1974-2002," 2003, and "Parliamentary Diplomacy and the Hellenic Parliament" (collective work, Athens 2004), as well as various publications in collective studies and journals.
