Caryl Churchill
Born in 1938 in London, Caryl Churchill is considered one of the most important figures in contemporary English drama. She gained widespread recognition in 1973 with her play "Owners." In 1974, she served as a playwright for the Royal Court and collaborated extensively with the theater companies "Joint Stock" and "Monstrous Regiment," for which she wrote most of her plays during the 1970s and 1980s. Her writing is characterized by a leftist and feminist commitment combined with a strong interest in renewing theatrical form.
