THeodosis P. Tasios
Theodosis P. Tasios was born in Kastoria on January 22, 1930, and grew up in Megara, Attica. He is an emeritus professor of the Civil Engineering Department at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), an academic, and an author. He graduated from the School of Civil Engineering at NTUA in 1948 and pursued postgraduate studies in Paris and at NTUA. Subsequently, he served as a lieutenant in the Engineering Corps of the Greek Army. In 1958, he was awarded a doctorate and later became a curator, an adjunct permanent professor (1964), and a full professor at NTUA (1969). He has also taught at the University of Baghdad (1979), Tongji University in Shanghai (1982), the International College of Construction Sciences (1979-1989), Nanjing University, and the University of Pavia (1986). He holds honorary doctorates from the following universities: Nanjing, Liège, Democritus University of Thrace, and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has been honored with a medal from the American Concrete Society and the Medal of the City of Paris. Additionally, he has been awarded membership in the Academy of Sciences of Turin (2004) and has served as honorary president of the Euro-International Committee for Concrete (CEB, 1988), honorary member of the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM, 1989), honorary member of the Italian Confederation of Underwater Activities (CIAS, 1998), honorary member of the Scientific Technical Chamber of Cyprus (1999), and the Hellenic Society for Terminology (2008). On June 12, 2009, the Technical Chamber of Greece honored him in a special event marking the 80th anniversary of his birth and published a commemorative volume dedicated to his work. Sensitive to social and philosophical issues, Theodosis Tasios frequently gives interviews to the press and writes for the newspaper "To Vima tis Kyriakis," as well as for publications in Greece and abroad. As president of the Hellenic Philosophical Society, he often participates in organizing meetings on education, history, and culture. He was a co-organizer of the "Ancient Greek Technology" exhibition, which was presented in cities in Greece and Germany. He has authored more than fourteen books on topics such as construction and concrete, higher education, education, humanism, Freemasonry, the environment, and more. In 2012, his columns in "To Vima" were published in a volume by Angelakis Publications.
