Georgios K. Mpitros

Georgios K. Bitros is an Emeritus Professor of Political Economy at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business (formerly ASOEE, degree in 1963) and his postgraduate studies at New York University (Ph.D. in Economics, 1973). He has published his work in many of the most renowned journals. For several years, he served as co-editor and European editor of the journals Greek Economic Review and Journal of Economic Asymmetries, respectively. He has been a Research Associate at the globally recognized National Bureau of Economic Research in the USA. He has participated in various committees and councils, such as the National Advisory Research Council and the Council of Economic Experts. He collaborates as a reviewer with economic journals and research organizations and has extensive practical experience from his participation on the boards of directors of companies and organizations. His research interests include the mechanisms of efficient allocation of economic resources, market structure and competition, and the role of institutions in economic development.
