Katherine Neville was born in the USA. From an early age, she showed an interest in writing, global mythology, and the arts. She worked professionally for many years in programming, which gave her the opportunity to travel and live in many countries around the world. Alongside her professional career, she pursued postgraduate studies in literature and engaged in photography. She worked as an international relations consultant for the Algerian government, a position that allowed her to closely observe the events of the OPEC oil embargo. This experience inspired her to write "The Eight." Later, she pursued a professional career in photography. She has worked as an energy consultant for US government agencies and held a senior position at Bank of America.
