Jeff Lindsay is the pen name of Jeffry P. Freundlich, born in 1952 in Miami, Florida. He is internationally known for creating the character Dexter Morgan, a Miami police forensic analyst who leads a double life as a serial killer with a strict moral code. His first novel featuring Dexter, Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004), served as the basis for the award-winning Showtime television series, which achieved worldwide success. He studied at Ransom Everglades School, graduating in 1970, and then at Middlebury College in Vermont, completing his studies in 1975. He is married to author Hilary Hemingway, niece of Ernest Hemingway, with whom he has collaborated on various works. They live in Cape Coral, Florida. Beyond the Dexter series, Lindsay has written other novels, such as Dreamland: A Novel of the UFO Coverup (1995), Dreamchild (1998), and Hunting with Hemingway (2000), several of them co-authored with his wife. In 2019, he launched a new book series featuring Riley Wolfe, a ruthless master thief, beginning with Just Watch Me, followed by Fool Me Twice (2020), The Double Agent (2022), and The Fourth Rule (2023). In addition to novels, he has written more than twenty plays that have been performed in New York and London, as well as screenplays for film and television. His works have been published in 44 languages and are read worldwide. Today, Jeff Lindsay remains one of the most recognizable authors in the crime fiction genre, combining the intensity of police thrillers with his ironic, often dark perspective on human psychology.
