Harvey M. Deitel

Dr. Harvey M. Deitel, Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer of Deitel & Associates, Inc., has 43 years of experience in the field of computing, including extensive industrial and academic expertise. Dr. Deitel holds a B.S. and M.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from Boston University. He worked at the forefront of virtual memory operating systems at IBM and MIT, developing techniques that are now widely implemented in systems such as UNIX, Linux, and Windows NT. He has 20 years of teaching experience at colleges, including serving as Chairman of the Computer Science Department at Boston College before founding Deitel & Associates, Inc., with his son, Paul J. Deitel. Together with his son, he is the author or co-author of dozens of books and multimedia packages and continues to write many more. With translations into Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, French, Polish, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, and Turkish, Dr. Deitel's works have received international recognition. Dr. Deitel has lectured at professional seminars for major corporations, government organizations, and various branches of the military.
