Manolis Pimplis

Manolis Pimplis was born in Athens in 1966 and studied at the Athens Law School. However, he was soon drawn to journalism. Since 1994, he has worked for the newspaper "Ta Nea," and from 1999 to 2018, he was part of the newspaper's cultural section, where he was responsible for the "Vivliodromio" supplement. He also co-hosted the ERT1 television program "Books in the Box." Since 1995, when he first appeared in Greek literature with his poetry collection titled "Ekpoiemata," he has remained active in literary criticism and translation. His short stories have been published in collective volumes such as "Greek Crimes 2," "The Absence of Love," and "Greek Crimes 4." From 2010 to 2013, he collaborated with the Onassis Cultural Centre for the "Words and Thoughts" series of events, which organized discussions on literary and major social issues (such as the refugee crisis, education, the position of minority groups, and human rights) with the participation of prominent intellectuals. Today, he works at the Hellenic Parliament TV Channel, where he hosts the show "Bibliovoulio." He also writes for the newspapers Efimerida ton Syntakton and Epohi. Since 2017, he has served as the Director of the Thessaloniki International Book Fair and is responsible for the Greek presence at International Book Fairs abroad (Frankfurt, Bologna, Paris, etc.) on behalf of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
