Elisabeth Roudinesco
Elisabeth Roudinesco was born in 1944. A historian of psychoanalysis, she taught at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes from 1992 to 1996. She was a member of the "Freudian School" of Paris (1969-1981) and part of the editorial team of the journal "Action politique" (1969-1979). Currently, she is the Director of Research in the History Department at Paris VIII University, Vice President of the "International Society for the History of Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis" (SIHPP, since 1990), and a member of the "French Society for the History of Medicine" (since 1997) and "L'évolution psychiatrique" (since 1999). Her major works include "Histoire de la psychanalyse en France," vol. 1, 1982, & vol. 2, 1986, "Theroigne de Mericourt: Une femme melancolique sous la Revolution," 1989, "Jacques Lacan: Esquisse d'une vie, histoire d'un systeme de pensee," 1993, "Genealogies," 1994, "Pourquoi la psychanalyse?" 1999, and "Entretiens avec Jacques Derrida," 2002.
