Giorgos Tsaknias
Giorgos Tsaknias was born in Athens in 1968. He studied at the Italian School of Athens and the Department of History and Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in history. He pursued postgraduate studies in the Chair of History and Culture of Slavic Peoples at the same university, under Professor Faidon Maligoudis (thesis title: "Slavic Paganism in Byzantine and Latin Medieval Sources," 1997). He works as a researcher at the Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive of MIET and is the editor-in-chief of the cultural blog dim/art. He has been involved in literary translation, book editing, and historical prefaces, as well as photography (he was a member of the Photography Club of AUTH from 1990-1994, taught the history and aesthetics of photography in the club's annual seminars, published his photographs in books, held a solo exhibition at the ELIA exhibition space in March 2006, and participated in many group exhibitions, such as Photosynkyria 2005 in Thessaloniki). In the 2012 parliamentary elections, he was a candidate for the Democratic Left party in the Fthiotida constituency.
