Dimitris Kalokyris

Born in 1948 in the vast region of Rethymno, he studied Modern Greek Philology in Thessaloniki, where he founded the magazine "Tram" as well as the literary and art publishing house of the same name (1971-87). In Athens, he published the literary and art magazine "Chartis" (1982-87). He served as the editorial director and artistic director of the cultural magazine "To Tetarto" (1985-87). He has held three collage exhibitions and illustrated children's books. In 1996, he was awarded the State Short Story Prize for his spectacular work "The Discovery of Homeric" and in 2014, he received the Kostas and Eleni Ouranis Foundation Award from the Academy of Athens for his entire body of work. Since the early 1970s, he has been systematically engaged with the works of Borges through translations, lectures, articles, participation in international conferences, and radio broadcasts. They met twice and had extensive discussions. "Beth" is the first book written about Borges in Greek.
