Giorgis Giatromanolakis

Born in Zaros, Heraklion, Crete in 1940, he studied classical philology at the University of Athens and King's College, University of London (Ph.D.). He is a professor at the University of Athens. He has written books and articles on Homer, lyric poetry, tragedy, Aristotle, the ancient Greek novel, ancient Greek literary criticism, and is involved in translating classical texts. His interests also extend to the study of modern Greek literature, and he has written books and articles on Solomos, Seferis, Sikelianos, Elytis, Sinopoulos, Empeirikos, Ritsos, Engonopoulos, among others.
