Dora THeofilopoulou

Dora D. Theofilopoulou was born in Laconia, in Xirokambi of the present-day Municipality of Faris, in 1938. She experienced the wartime and civil war adventures of the turbulent period from 1940 to 1950, with all that entailed for her childhood psyche, as well as for the psyche of other children in Laconia. From a young age, she was immersed in a journalistic environment, as her father published and directed the weekly newspaper "Ethnikos Frourós Laconias" (National Guard of Laconia), which is the oldest newspaper in the region. She studied Law, as well as Economic and Political Sciences at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Journalism at the "Professional Center of Journalists and Press Executives" (Centre Professionel des Journalistes et des Cadres de la Presse) in Paris, where she also completed her postgraduate studies in economics. Upon returning to Greece, she continued to work as a scientific assistant in the Department of Public Economics at Panteion University and practiced law, while also continuing to assist her father with the publication of his newspaper by sending her reports and collaborations. In 1994, she took over the publication of the "Ethnikos Frourós" herself. She has received numerous honorary distinctions in Greece and abroad for her rich social and cultural contributions.
