The English author Simon Sebag Montefiore was born in 1965. His books have become global bestsellers and have been translated into 35 languages. "Catherine the Great & Potemkin" was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson, Duff Cooper, and Marsh Biography Prize. "Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar" won the History Book of the Year Prize at the British Book Awards in 2004. "Young Stalin" won the LA Times Book Prize for Biography (USA), the Costa Biography Award (UK), the Kreisky Prize for Political Literature (Austria), and Le Grand Prix de la Biographie Politique (France).
