Petros Tserkezis
Petros Tserkezis was born in Polytsiani Pogoniou, in the Argyrrokastro region of southern Albania. Of Greek descent, the author felt stifled by the rigid framework of Enver Hoxha's dictatorial regime. This traumatic experience left a mark not only on his life and work but also on all Northern Epirotes who experienced significant isolation. He holds degrees in Albanian and Russian philology from the University of Tirana. His involvement with literature began early, during his school years. For several years, he worked as a teacher in secondary education. He also served as a repertoire writer for the Argyrrokastro revue theater, and from 1992 to 1994, he directed the private Albanian-Greek newspaper "The City of the South." Between 1972 and 1977, he taught modern literature as an adjunct professor at the University of Argyrrokastro. He is the director of the Northern Epirote newspaper and literary arts publication "Awakening." Since 1994, he has been living and working in Cyprus.
