Konstantinos Kyriakou is an actor, director, playwright, and translator. He was born in Herrenberg, Germany, in 1976 and hails from Neo Petritsi, Serres. He is a PhD candidate at the Department of Theatre Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a Master's Degree with honors from the same department. He studied Hellenic Culture at the Hellenic Open University (graduating with honors and a scholarship), Theatre, Music, and Expressive Communication. He speaks five foreign languages (English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian). As a theatre actor, he has collaborated with the National Theatre, the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus, and the Regional Theatres of Agrinio, Kalamata, Crete, and Serres, as well as with numerous private theatre companies, having performed in approximately 40 productions. As a director, he has directed works such as Molière's "Monsieur Pourceaugnac" (Regional Theatre of Agrinio), Friedrich Schiller's "Mary Stuart" (Diachrono Theatre), Emma Pearson's "Cavewoman" (Coronet Theatre), John Herbert's "Fortune and Men's Eyes" (Vault Theatre), R. Clark & S. Bobrick's "Three Murders and No Funeral" (Chytirio Theatre & Tour), Akis Dimou's "Tonight We Dine at Iokasti's" (Regional Theatre of Serres), N. Poriotis's "I Won't Stay Long" (Akroasis Theatre), his own adaptation of Luis Sepúlveda's story "The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly" (Regional Theatre of Volos), and his children's play "The Magic Umbrella Travels to Space." He also directed and wrote the script for the reenactment event "Roupel 1941. The Revival," which took place at the Roupel Fortress in May 2019. Additionally, as an assistant director, he collaborated with G. Kimoulis, S. Chatzakis, N. Perelis, G. Lazaridis, Vl. Kyriakidis, G. Diamantopoulos, V. Nikolaidis, and Al. Rigas. As a playwright, he has written eight plays, two of which were recognized in Playwriting Competitions. These plays are "The Memories of the Living Dead" (Second Prize at the 82nd Kalokairineios Competition) and "The Three Sides of the Same Coin" (First Prize at the 90th Kalokairineios Competition), which was presented by the Regional Theatre of Serres during the 2012-13 season. He has also adapted the works "Alas for the Young" (Regional Theatre of Agrinio, 2012-13, Regional Theatre of Kalamata 2014-15) and "A Hero with Slippers" (Regional Theatre of Agrinio, 2013-14) by Al. Sakellarios & Chr. Giannakopoulos. As a translator, he has translated and published works by Shakespeare, Cervantes, Molière, Goethe, Schiller, Johnson, Kleist, O'Neill, Lorca, Brecht, D'Ennery, Sepúlveda, Atayde, Russell, and others. His translations performed on stage include Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," Lorca's "Don Cristóbal - Doña Rosita (The Puppet Play with a Cudgel)," Atayde's "Miss Margarida," Goethe's "The Accomplices," Molière's "Monsieur Pourceaugnac," Pearson's "Cavewoman," Schiller's "Mary Stuart," Herbert's "Fortune and Men's Eyes (Sonnet 29)," Russell's "Shirley Valentine," Sinisterra's "Ay, Carmela," and Clark & Bobrick's "Three Murders and No Funeral."
