Stefanos Patakis was born in Athens in 1939. After completing his secondary education at Kallithea High School, he studied Philology at the Universities of Thessaloniki and Athens, graduating in 1962. He worked as a philology teacher in private secondary education, teaching at private schools such as Leonteios Lyceum, Athens College, among others, and also at tutoring centers, where he was also an owner and director. Alongside his educational career, he engaged in writing books related to philological subjects. His most notable works include: - Translation of Cornelius Nepos' "Lives" - Translation of Gaius Julius Caesar's "De Bello Gallico" - Cornelius Nepos Dictionary - Gaius Julius Caesar Dictionary - In collaboration with Nikolaos Tzirakis, "Dictionary of Ancient Greek Verbs, Regular and Irregular" - Collaborated with Aristotelis Kantas and Spyros Kantas on the book "Exercises and Supplementary Rules of Modern Greek Grammar" - Authored the book "Thucydides' Funeral Oration, Translation - Commentary" - Authored the book "Sophocles' Antigone for the Second Year of Lyceum," which was reissued in collaboration with K. N. Petropoulos and recently with M. Sarris. Additionally, he has collaborated with many philologists in writing books and in the series of translations of ancient Greek texts in the series "Interpretative Analyses of Modern Greek Literature Texts" and also in the series "Analyses of Ancient Greek Texts for Gymnasium." In 1974, he founded the publishing house "Patakis Publishers" with his wife, Melpomeni Pataki, which he continues to direct to this day (he is also the President and CEO of S. Patakis S.A.). In his capacity as a publisher, he served as the General Secretary of the Association of Publishers and Booksellers of Athens (SEVA), a representative of SEVA in the Panhellenic Federation of Publishers and Booksellers of Greece (POEB), a founding member of the Hellenic Book Publishers Association (ENEBE), and participated in seminars on book-related issues. He is a founding member of the new publishers' association, the Hellenic Book Union (ENELBI). He has been particularly involved in issues concerning the unified book price, intellectual property rights, and strategic organization matters of publishing houses.
