Ilias Kefalas

Ilias Kefalas was born in 1951 in the village of Meligos, Trikala. He studied political science in Athens, where he lived from 1969 to 1992. Today, he resides once again in his birthplace, where he engages in photographing nature, writing poetry, essays, and prose, and practicing literary and art criticism in various literary and art magazines. He has worked in radio and occasionally in television. Kefalas translates and presents Francophone poets. In his column in the magazine "Efthini," he publishes critical evaluations of figures and texts from modern Greek literature, offering final impressions from a second reading. He shares his insights on contemporary literary creation in numerous newspapers and magazines ("Avgi," "Diavazo," "Entefktirio," etc.). He contributes to the publication of the scientific yearbook "Trikalina." Kefalas collaborates with major literary magazines, which feature his poems and other writings. In the past, he was extensively involved in book criticism for the magazines "Tomes," "Neues Tomes," "Diavazo," and "Odos Panos," where more than a thousand of his texts were published. Some of his poems have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Polish.
