Zacharoula Karava

Zacharoula Karava is a graduate of the Department of Primary Education at the University of Athens and holds a Ph.D. from the same university with a dissertation titled "The Greek Constantinopolitan Magazines for Children and Youth in the First Two Decades of the Twentieth Century." She also holds a Master's Degree in Educational Sciences - Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Nicosia. She serves as a School Counselor for Primary Education in the Regional Directorate of Peloponnese and is also the Deputy Director of Primary Education at the PEK Tripoli. She has collaborated on innovative research, educational, and cultural programs with the National Research Foundation, the Ministry of Education, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the National Book Center, aiming to promote scientific and educational research as well as reading culture. As a speaker, she has participated in Greek and international conferences and represented the Greek Section of IBBY/Circle of the Greek Children's Book at the 1st International Children's Book Festival in Seoul, South Korea. She has attended numerous Greek and international conferences, training programs, seminars, and experiential workshops, and has also served as a trainer in programs for state agencies. She participates in organizing committees for cultural and educational events of state agencies, as well as in evaluation committees for their Literary Competitions. Her educational board game titled "Discover My City - N. Ionia" has been distributed by the Municipality of N. Ionia to schools of all levels in the municipality with the approval of the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP). She is a member of the Boards of Directors of the Center for the Study and Promotion of Asia Minor Culture (KEMIPO) of the Municipality of N. Ionia, Attica, the Women's Literary Society, and the Circle of the Greek Children's Book, participating in committees (President of the Student Publication Committee of the Women's Literary Society since 2008, among others) and their cultural events (Conference Coordinator of the Women's Literary Society, among others). Her writing includes the publication of books such as "The Greek Constantinopolitan Magazines for Children and Youth (1898-1919)," "The Teacher Named Danae," "A Hat in the Sea," and "The Beauty of Egypt and the Kitten Miam and the Traffic Officer." Her short story has been published in the collective volume "Old Professions," and her text has been included in the "Anthology The Winner Remained Joy." Her articles have been published in conference proceedings, scientific and literary-philological journals, newspapers, and collective volumes.
