Giannis Mylopoulos

Giannis A. Mylopoulos was born in 1958 in Thessaloniki. He graduated from the six-year high school of the Experimental School of Thessaloniki in 1976. He obtained his degree in Civil Engineering in 1982 and his Ph.D. in 1987 from the Faculty of Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Since 1990, he has served as a faculty member in the Department of Hydraulic & Environmental Engineering, within the Department of Civil Engineering at AUTH, and has been a Professor since 2003. He has worked as a Visiting Professor at York University in Canada, Stevens Institute of Technology in the USA, and European University in Cyprus. In 2010, he was elected Rector of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and during his four-year tenure, he chaired the Rectors' Council and represented it in the European University Association. During the same period, he served as Chairman of the Board of the Center for Technology and Science Dissemination "NOESIS" and the Tellogleio Foundation of Thessaloniki. He has published two other books, authored over 100 papers in scientific journals and conferences, participated in and coordinated dozens of research projects in the field of Sustainable Development for the Environment, and regularly writes for newspapers and websites.
