
CHristos K. Oikonomou
Christos K. Oikonomou is a Professor of the New Testament at the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology, School of Theology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.). He was born in the currently Turkish-occupied Agios Epiktitos in Kyrenia, Cyprus, and studied Theology at the School of Theology, University of Athens. He pursued postgraduate studies in the New Testament at the University of London and the School of Theology in Thessaloniki.
He has been elected Dean of the School of Theology at A.U.Th. and served twice as the President of his department. Additionally, he is the President of the World Federation of Orthodox Theological Schools, a member of the World Council of United Bible Societies, and Vice President of the Forum of Religions and Cultures of the Holy Monastery of Kykkos. He founded and has been directing for the fifth year the Seminar of Orthodox Exegetical Theology, Exegeticum, of his department, where lectures are delivered by distinguished University Professors from Europe and America. He served as the general coordinator of the six-volume critical edition of the Writings of Saint Neophytos the Recluse of Paphos, which was awarded by the Academy of Athens.
