
Gazmend Kapllani
Gazmend Kapllani was born in 1967 in the city of Lushnjë, Albania. In January 1991, he crossed the border into Greece on foot, along with a caravan of people. In Greece, he did all kinds of jobs that every immigrant does to survive: construction worker, dishwasher, kiosk attendant. At the same time, he studied at the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens and holds a Ph.D. in History and Political Science from Panteion University. Since 2001, he has been a regular columnist for the newspaper "Ta Nea," where he maintains a weekly column. His books have been translated into English, Polish, Danish, and French. He works a lot and travels frequently. He currently lives in Boston, following a fellowship awarded to him by the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
