
Alice Walker
Alice Walker was born in 1944 in Georgia, USA. She is one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed American authors. Her work depicts the struggle of Black women to survive the dual oppression of racism/sexism on one hand, and poverty on the other. Her published works include: "Once," poetry, 1968, "The Third Life of Grange Copeland," novel, 1970, "Love and Trouble: Stories of Black Women," short stories, 1973, "Revolutionary Petunias and Other Poems," poetry, 1973, "Meridian," novel, 1976, "Goodnight, Willie Lee, I'll See You in The Morning," poetry, 1979, "The Color Purple," novel, Pulitzer Prize and American Book Award, 1982, "In Search of Our Mother's Garden," essays, 1983, among others.
