Joe Sacco

Joe Sacco was born in Malta. He holds a degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. His comic "Palestine," which covers his experiences in the occupied territories of Palestine and the First Intifada, won the American Book Award in 1996. His illustrated narrative "Safe Area Gorazde," which recounts his experiences during his stay in Bosnia during the war, won the Will Eisner Award for Best Original Graphic Novel in 2001. Joe Sacco has published other comic books and collaborates with publications such as Washington Monthly, Harper's, and Time.
