James A. Duke

Dr. James A. Duke is the author of numerous books related to the healing power of plants. He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1995, where he served as the director of the medicinal plant laboratory. During his 30-year tenure there, Dr. Duke engaged with thousands of empirical healers and scientists, compiling a unique database of medicinal ingredients found in both common and exotic plants. He remains an active member of ReNuPeru, a botanical garden of medicinal plants located in the Peruvian Amazon, maintained by the Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research.
