Harvey Whitehouse

Harvey Whitehouse is a professor and chair of the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford. He spent two years in New Britain, Papua New Guinea, where he conducted field research studying local cults in the 1980s. In recent years, he has been involved in developing interdisciplinary research programs for the cognitive study of culture. These efforts led to the founding of the Institute of Cognition and Culture at Queen's University Belfast in 2004, as well as the Centre for Cognition and Culture at Oxford University in 2006.
