Georges Dumézil

Georges Dumezil (1898 - 1986) was an ethnologist and historian of religions who completed his studies at the Ecole Normale. He specialized in comparative mythology, particularly focusing on Indo-European religions. In 1949, he was appointed to the chair of Indo-European civilization at the Collège de France. He became a member of the French Academy in 1979.
