James Lovelock

James Lovelock has authored over 200 scientific articles and is the originator of the Gaia Hypothesis, which has evolved into the Gaia Theory. He has written three books on this subject: "Gaia: A New Look at Life on Earth," "The Ages of Gaia," and "Gaia: The Practical Science of Planetary Medicine," as well as the autobiographical work "Homage to Gaia." He has been a member of the Royal Society of London since 1974. Since 1961, he has worked independently in his scientific field while maintaining connections with universities in the United Kingdom and the USA. Since 1994, he has been an honorary visiting professor at Green College, University of Oxford. He has been described as "one of the greatest thinkers of our time" (New Scientist) and "one of the most important and influential figures in the environmental movement" (Observer). In 2003, he was awarded the Order of Merit by Queen Elizabeth II, and in September 2005, Prospect magazine included him in the list of the world's top 100 public intellectuals.
